Empathy is mirroring

The most important phase of the method proposed is the intervention. It is the moment to put into practice the chosen strategies and tools to achieve the objective . Considering that every moment is subdued to the principle of uncertainty , the intervention has always to be flexible and adapt the strategies and the tools planned to the contingent situation. A way to do this in the dialogical approach is to enter into the narrative flow (Turchi, 2014) through empathy. Empathy, indeed, always allows pandering to the current situation and give an adequate response to the person. Bryant’s definition of empathy as a “vicarious emotional response to the perceived emotional experiences of others, [with] emphasises on emotional responsiveness” (Bryant, 1982, p. 414).
