Narration break
During life, every person builds his/her identity and maintains it through words , but some unexpected events can change radically the entire self-perception. These events are called "narration breaks" and can be both destructive or generative for life. In the following paragraphs will be explained how they work and which is the best way to deal with them. The theory of dialogical identity (Turchi, 2006, 2017) asserts that someone's identity is made by all the narrations made about him/her. These narrations develop over time in the narrative flow. The flow has normally a homogeneous course because its trend is to keep the internal coherence. Indeed, people, keep using basically always the same dialogic repertoires (Turchi, 2014). This is a way of expression of the accommodation process, that is a human functioning of adapting own schemas to all the situations (Piaget, 1969).
