Discipline without rules

This article aims to identify the best practices to manage children discipline, especially when children misbehave. Discipline consists in helping children to develop self-regulation: “ the ability to modulate emotion and behaviour to meet external demands in different contexts” ( Calkins et al., 1982 in Augustine & Stifter, 2019). Self-regulation is predictive of future socio-emotional wellbeing and the process of developing it is strongly influenced by the intervention of adults ( Schulz, Leijten, Shaw, Overbeek , 2018).  Discipline approaches      The parental approaches to educate to appropriate behaviours could be divided into two main categories: positive discipline and traditional discipline (Holden et al., 2017).
